Both the Chinese and Japanese consider chrysanthemums a powerful emblem of youth. The Chinese also believe that it prevents gray hair. Confucius once suggested chrysanthemums be used as an object of meditation. In Japan, there's even a "Festival of Happiness" to celebrate this flower each year.
Each abstract botanical was created in Corinne's home studio. She used acrylic inks, fluid acrylics, natural earth pigments, water soluble crayon for mark making, heavy body medium, all intertwined with handmade paper collage. Each textured layer of paint had to dry before adding another layer, to bring forth the carefully curated color palette. Her style is a push and pull of adding and subtracting, just like in nature. She loves the quote, "Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience".- Ralph Waldo Emerson
